Murhi salad or farhi/ or jhalmurhi is a kind of puffed rice mixed with spices and some salads and is easily available in the market especially in the evening or on the beaches in India.
This is very popular street food snack,
I don't think anyone has not tasted it on the streets once or have not tried at home to make it. Some people prefer to eat it spicy or some may want it added with sweet chutney. My version is a kind of mix sweet and savoury. I often make it as an evening snack added with sprouts.
Sharing my recipe. This recipe serves for 2.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
-1 cup puffed rice
-1/2 cup sprouts steamed
-1/4 cup boiled chickpeas
-1 medium size boiled potato crushed
-1 small finely chopped tomato
-1 medium size finely chopped onion
-1/8 cup dry roasted peanut
-1/2 tsp mustard oil
-1 tsp spice powder mix( cumin powder, Chaat masala, red chilli powder)
-salt as per your taste
-sweet Tamrind chutney
-green chutney
-1/2 tsp lemon juice
For garnishing:
-1 green chilli chopped
-coriander leaves
-bhujiya sev
Method:
-mix all the ingredients well and then garnish and serve immediately.
* Always add murhi at last otherwise it won't remain crispy.
