Chhola masala

 Chhola is a popular north Indian dish.
People love to eat this amazing and delicious dish. Chhola goes wonderful with bhatura but when made with onion tomato gravy rich in spices, this flavorful dish is served with rice or chapati. People make it in different ways.
Here, I am presenting my version.

Recipe:

Ingredients:
-1 cup chickpeas soaked overnight
-1 large onion chopped
-2 medium size tomatoes chopped
-1 tsp ginger garlic paste
-1 red dry chilli
-turmeric powder
-salt
-3/4 tsp coriander powder
-1/3 tsp garam masala (3/4 tsp chhola masala can be used instead of coriander powder and garam masala)
-coriander leaves for garnishing
-1 cup water

Method:

-add chickpeas, 1/2 cup water, turmeric powder and salt in pressure cooker, wait for 4-5 whistles usually takes 6-7 min or until peas are completely cooked.
-by the time heat oil in a kadahi, add cumin seeds, red dry chilli, let it crackle, add onion, ginger-garlic paste, saute for 2-3 minutes
-add tomatoes and cook for 3-4 minutes till tomatoes are soft, add boiled chickpeas from cooker, mix well, mash a little and add coriander powder and garam masala, mix adding water
- boil for 2 minutes
-garnish with green coriander leaves

Serve hot
