Mix Dal tadka

#mixdaltadkadifferentversion#

Mix Dal tadka is nothing but different kinds of Dal mixed in different proportions and cooked with adding masalas.

Dal is good for health, helps in digestion, rich in fibre, and is a very good source of protein especially for vegetarians.

We include Dal everyday in our meal. On daily basis, I make plane tur Dal.
So, sometimes to bring a change in my menu and provide different varieties and taste I keep on making mix Dal which gives a special look to my lunch/dinner.
It's very easy to make. Sharing the recipe:

Recipe: serves for 4

Ingredients:
-1/4 cup black Urad Dal (split)
-1/3 cup green mung Dal (split)
-1/8 cup tur (arhar) Dal
-1/8 cup masoor dal
-mixed Dal(all above)
-1.5 cup water
-1 tsp ginger chopped
-1 medium onion chopped
-1 medium tomato chopped
1/2 tsp garam masala
-few cumin seeds
-a pinch of asfoetida
-1 tejpatta
-1 small green chilli
-coriander leaves
-1/2 tsp kasuri methi
-1/2 tbsp malai (I use fresh malai obtained from milk)
-1 tbsp ghee for cooking

Method:

-sort, wash and soak all Dal mixed for 30-40 minutes.
- boil water in pressure cooker, add soaked Dal, add turmeric powder and salt, wait for 4-5 whistles (5-6 minutes) or till Dal is completely cooked.
-open the lid and mash the cooked Dal with the help of spoon
- heat ghee in a kadahi, add cumin seeds, tejpatta and asfoetida
-add chopped onion, saute till onions become soft.
-add chopped tomatoes, ginger, chopped green chilli and saute for another 3-4 minutes.
-add cooked Dal, garam masala, Malai and crush kasuri methi with your palm
-simmer and boil for 2 minutes, you can add water if Dal appears thick.
-garnish with coriander leaves
-serve hot with rice or roti.

You can try making it by changing the proportions of each Dal according to your taste and Choice.

* I haven't used garlic but can be added

I love to eat this Dal when served with peas pulao.
